At Muircot we are passionate about local producers and local, seasonal produce. Browse our shelves, chat to our friendly informative staff who can provide you with tips and inspiration on how to use our great range of carefully selected produce.
Our farm is called Glebe Farm. We farm 90 acres of organic mixed livestock and arable land. Also, in summer our animals graze on 40 acres of lush pasture on the Somerset Levels. It has been farmed by the Walrond family for over 200 years with three generations involved on the farm today. We converted the farm to organic production in 1999 and have been farming organically ever since. We are licensed growers and processors with the Soil Association.
Black Isle Berries can be found at Ryefield Farm, Tore on the Black Isle, which has its own farm shop. There we can offer good quality, home-grown, seasonal fruit and vegetables. During the summer you can pick your own fruit.
The KellyBronze turkey is reared here on Moorgate Farm until full maturity has been achieved. All our turkeys are free range roaming on t the wooded grassland area of our farm. These birds are raised by using traditional farming methods, they have the shelter of an open sided barn with deep straw and plenty of fresh air. The birds are grown to maturity over several months and fed on cereal and vegetable protein without additives, drugs or growth promoters. We hand pluck the birds and let them hang for tenderness. Your turkey is presented to you in our signature box with a meat thermometer and cooking instructions.
Our produce is always fresh, full of flavour and by buying local home-grown produce you support the local economy which helps to reduce the energy needed to transport your food.
Our flagship shop, we first started with a stand at Borough Market when it was established as a monthly market. We have grown with the market and have our own shop on Stoney Street which is open 6 days a week stocked with farm fresh delicious seasonal produce delivered daily from our farm along with our full range of farm pressed and freshly pressed juices.
Our Longhorn meat is renowned for its texture, flavour and succulence across the whole range of cuts and joints – due to the ‘marbling’ in the lean meat without excess external fat. This is particularly enhanced by the slow growing process with no forcing to finish at an early age, as in some continental breeds.
Using our own traditionally reared beef, fresh vegetables and other local products our kitchen is always busy and filled with the smells of homemade raspberry jam, steak pies and a variety of burgers. However it is not only our own produce that makes our selection so delicious.
Scaddows Farm PYO has been a family business for over 30 years. Opening each season come rain or shine we produce exceptional soft fruit including our famous strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrant, redcurrants and gooseberries. Set in the beautiful rolling hills of South Derbyshire, PYO fruit is not only a great activity for all the family but a beautiful spot to come and soak up some sun and scenery. Our seasonal Farm Shop opens in May / June, sourcing high quality products from Derbyshire, Leicestershire and the Mid- lands with the finest possible value, together with a friendly, personal service.
