Since September 1999, when twenty nervous stallholders manned their pitches on the edge of the (now vanished) cattle market, Cirencester has been lucky to have a regular farmers' market.
This has to be one of the prettiest locations for a farmers’ market. The harbourside on the 3rd Saturday of the month becomes the backdrop for a variety of stalls selling the best local fish and produce from Argyll and the west of Scotland. Seafood lovers can enjoy the best Scottish seafood and shellfish in this area and enjoy the rugged and unspoiled coastline of Argyll.
The new market proved very popular with local people and is very well supported every Friday and Saturday. In 2019, the market expanded by adding a third trading day on Tuesday. The market consists of mainly fresh food items and hot food. Electricity points are available.
Put simply, we founded Loddon Farmers' Market to enable local farmers to sell their products direct to you so that they get a fair price for their work and that you get fresh, high quality food at an affordable price. Local growers and producers take personal pride in the food they bring to their Farmers' Market and want you to enjoy it. The emphasis is on freshness, quality and value for money. We encourage sustainable methods of food production. We support traditional animal breeds and heritage fruit and vegetable varieties.
