The Handmade Bakery (HMB) is a not for profit community supported artisan bakery in Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire. We are a workers co-operative, owned and run by our members. It consists of a flourishing bakery producing 2000 loaves of real bread and patisserie each week, and a vibrant contemporary café space. Established in 2009, we are proud to be at the heart of our local community.
This entrepreneurial family bakers is a fitting tribute to dad Rod whose dream was to create a bakery with the family name. Today, mum Annette oversees the operational side, daughter Annaliese has a firm grip on the finances and son Dominic is the master baker, producing tried and tested sourdoughs as well as new and innovative products with passion and flair.

The Spencer Family came to Spring Lane Farm in 1939. Herbert Spencer came from Wymeswold in Leicestershire and purchased Spring Lane Farm with his wife Edna. Their son, Cyril and his wife Dorothy developed the Business growing potatoes as well as milking cows and selling free range eggs at the farm gate.
All bread sold at the loaf is baked, fresh every day, at the bakery in Crich. Some of our customers have told us that it would be useful to understand a little bit more about the differences between the great variety of breads that we make. We bake ‘standard breads’ every day, right through to distinctive continental artisan breads on select days
The team at Welbeck Farm Shop are dedicated to providing the highest quality locally sourced food to a regular local customer base. Working with the estate's farmers, they source vegetables, dairy and livestock from the 15,000 acre estate, in additional to sourcing from the estate's resident food producers.
From a site in Callander that has been supplying bread to the area for over 100 years, Mhor Bread operates its bakery, shop and tearoom. The Lewis family, who also run Mhor Fish, Mhor Tea Rooms and Monachyle Mhor hotel and restaurant, are reintroducing traditional baking techniques and ensuring there are no preservatives in their bread. They're also aiming to maintain the same values for other traditional high-street baker’s produce, such as cakes, scones and pies.
