The J M Bakery, affectionately known locally as ‘The JM’, has been producing high quality craft bakery and confectionary goods in the picturesque Angus seaside town of Carnoustie for over 40 years. The J M Bakery is a proper traditional bakery, where everything is freshly hand crafted every day for our three High Street retail shops, or specific orders for our many satisfied retail and wholesale customers. At The JM we specialise in all things bakery, from the best morning rolls in Angus and Tayside and our specialist designer wedding and celebration cakes, to our hand crafted buffets – you wont be disappointed with any of our products.
Set over three floors, our stunning organic farmshop & café on Sloane Avenue celebrates the sensational food and artisan produce from our ORGANIC FARM IN THE COTSWOLDS.
Open every day from 9am. As the doors open the daily papers are waiting and the bread is freshly baked and cooling with the handmade pies and pasties - all baked fresh on site. Milk and yogurts are delivered fresh from our dairy.

One of Orkney's oldest family-run businesses, now staffed by the fourth generation, Argo's is a popular fixture on the main shopping streets of Stromness and Kirkwall. Don't leave it too late to visit either location, as their artisan baked bread, rolls and cakes disappear fast from well-laden shelves. Brown, white, corn, muesli and wholemeal are just some of the rolls on offer, while colourful iced cakes stand out among old-fashioned temptations such as paradise slices, treacle pancakes and custard tarts. Biscuits to take home include perkins, Orkney beremeal shortbread and giant flaky water biscuits which go perfectly with local crumbly Grimbister cheese. More recently, they've started making four flavours of fudge and traditional boiled sweets, sold to UK-wide stockists or sent via mail order.
In September 2008, Julian Carter and Tim Hart opened Hambleton Bakery, to produce top quality traditionally made bread for Hambleton Hall and Harts in Nottingham, and added a little shop at the front, almost as an afterthought; 10 years on, with a growing list of wholesale customers, Hambleton Bakery now has shops in Oakham, Market Harborough, West Bridgford, Stamford and Oundle.
Bread & Roses bake real artisan sourdough breads in their bakery in Alnwick with loaves including Rye with Caraway, Seeded Sourdough, Gilchesters' Miche, White Levain, Five Grain Levain and Moscow Rye
We maintain traditional baking methods, baking fresh crusty bread & soft rolls using traditional recipes. Wherever possible, we use locally sourced ingredients, locally grown wheat for our flour and local eggs for our cakes. Milk for our delicious Egg Custards comes from the local dairy. We cook all our own meat for pies, pasties and savouries – all sourced from the local butcher or direct from the abattoir. Our famous Lincolnshire Plumbread is available across the county and also available by mail order. We can post worldwide if required.
This entrepreneurial family bakers is a fitting tribute to dad Rod whose dream was to create a bakery with the family name. Today, mum Annette oversees the operational side, daughter Annaliese has a firm grip on the finances and son Dominic is the master baker, producing tried and tested sourdoughs as well as new and innovative products with passion and flair.
