At Adsdean farm shop we strive to produce only the finest quality meats, and alongside our own reared beef and pork we source other meats, game and produce from local and British farms (wherever possible), to ensure everything we offer originates from farms with a similar ethos to us on high animal welfare standards. Our Butchery Shop has been open since 1970 and our small team of butchers, Paul, Trevor & young Rob, are all fully trained and have many years of experience with us. They are always on hand to help with advice, queries or special customer request that you may have. The one hundred and sixty acres of Swillington Organic Farm form part of the historic Swillington Park Estate.The farm is home to all of our free range and organic animals, a diverse range of wildlife and varying members of our team.The farm has a diverse range of habitats including woodland, marsh, pasture and ponds, providing a haven for wildlife and the perfect place for our organic rare breed pigs and native breed cattle and sheep as well as free range organic poultry. However these idyllic surroundings are only 5 miles from Leeds and easily accessible by car, bike, train and on foot.Facilities on the farm include our farm shop from which we sell all our fresh and local produce, our butchery and poultry slaughterhouse, an organic dairy and a Victorian walled garden where we grow vegetables through a community supported agriculture scheme.

First started in 1962 Swinburn's Farm Shop has been part of the local community for generations. 'John in the Shop' as he is known to many has been there for over 30 years, serving customers with knowledge on various equine and small animal feeds, and also bringing fresh fruit and veg to the regulars. Taking on 2 expansions in its time the Farm Shop has seen many changes in customer shopping habits however have stuck to its principles of good quality at a reasonable price.

We focus on fresh produce, so our range of fruit and vegetables is constantly changing. For example, we have British heritage tomatoes, raspberries, and strawberries during the summer, and Jerusalem artichokes, kale, and dirty carrots in winter. We aim to have seasonal foods in stock throughout the year. We also offer a variety of smoked fish as well as game, – from pheasant and guinea fowl, to venison, pigeon, and rabbit.

Gould’s Cheddar

Batch Farm is situated in an idyllic setting on the Pennard ridge with views of the Glastonbury Tor and the Mendips beyond. Cheesemaking has been a family concern at Batch Farm for almost 50 years. The dairy is adjacent to the thatched farmhouse where Fred Gould runs the farm and Jean Turner his sister the cheesemaking business. Using milk from their 260 Friesian cows, Gould’s make around 140 tonnes of West Country Farmhouse Cheddar in the traditional 27kg cylinders.
