Lifton Farm Shop

Lifton Farm Shop

We have been growing for over 20 years and every day we harvest fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables to stock the shop – vegetables are very often still dripping! Wandering through the shop, the smell of freshly cooked bread will hit you which is a true reminder of the quality and freshness of our bakery products. See the bakers and pastry chefs busily producing an array of products right in front of your eyes, although never too busy to answer any questions you may have!

Lembas

Lembas

We have been growing organic vegetables near Aberdeen since 1980. First we were working for the Camphill Rudolf Steiner Schools in Milltimber near Aberdeen and after a short spell back in Holland we set ourselves up in Maryculter as an independent business growing organic vegetables for supermarkets. Over the years we switched to supplying local markets, notably all the Camphill communities around Aberdeen as well as to organic box schemes in the area, and we also operate a box scheme ourselves.

Bankhead Farm Shop

Bankhead Farm Shop

The Bankhead Farm Shop is popular with men according to the owner, Nancy Wishart. There’s no cafe, no gift shop and no supermarket crowds and no temptation for impulse buys, so, as Nancy points out, ‘you can’t overspend’. That’s because Bankhead, near the villages of Crombie and Cairneyhill in Fife, is very much a working farm, that just happens to have a shop, not a destination cafe or lifestyle shop selling candles, cushions and crafts. Instead, reasonable prices for the vegetables and fruit piled on a few old office desks in a giant barn that houses the hill of grain

Hawarden Estate Farm Shop

Hawarden Estate Farm Shop

What distinguishes our Farm Shop from many other food shops (and there are a lot out there)? Most importantly we want to understand exactly where our food comes from. Provenance is key to us because we not only believe in food that tastes great but that is also local, sustainable and is good for our community, the environment and our customer’s health. But everyone talks about provenance, don’t they? And so we try to go an extra mile by really understanding precisely where all of our meat, vegetables and dairy products come from.
