The Handmade Bakery
The Handmade Bakery (HMB) is a not for profit community supported artisan bakery in Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire. We are a workers co-operative, owned and run by our members. It consists of a flourishing bakery producing 2000 loaves of real bread and patisserie each week, and a vibrant contemporary café space. Established in 2009, we are proud to be at the heart of our local community.

Argo's Bakery
One of Orkney's oldest family-run businesses, now staffed by the fourth generation, Argo's is a popular fixture on the main shopping streets of Stromness and Kirkwall. Don't leave it too late to visit either location, as their artisan baked bread, rolls and cakes disappear fast from well-laden shelves. Brown, white, corn, muesli and wholemeal are just some of the rolls on offer, while colourful iced cakes stand out among old-fashioned temptations such as paradise slices, treacle pancakes and custard tarts. Biscuits to take home include perkins, Orkney beremeal shortbread and giant flaky water biscuits which go perfectly with local crumbly Grimbister cheese. More recently, they've started making four flavours of fudge and traditional boiled sweets, sold to UK-wide stockists or sent via mail order.

We have been growing for over 20 years and every day we harvest fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables to stock the shop – vegetables are very often still dripping! Wandering through the shop, the smell of freshly cooked bread will hit you which is a true reminder of the quality and freshness of our bakery products.
