Argo's Bakery

One of Orkney's oldest family-run businesses, now staffed by the fourth generation, Argo's is a popular fixture on the main shopping streets of Stromness and Kirkwall. Don't leave it too late to visit either location, as their artisan baked bread, rolls and cakes disappear fast from well-laden shelves. Biscuits to take home include perkins, Orkney beremeal shortbread and giant flaky water biscuits which go perfectly with local crumbly Grimbister cheese. More recently, they've started making four flavours of fudge and traditional boiled sweets, sold to UK-wide stockists or sent via mail order.
