The farmers' market started as a new venture in April 2003 following an idea put forward by the Village Hall Management Committee to provide a service for our community. In addition to offering food and other items the market is a social occasion with refreshments available.

Located on the north side of city in the bustling Partick area and only a few minutes from Glasgow University, Kelvin Hall and the newly renovated Kelvin Grove Museum and Galleries this market usually has around 40 stalls selling farm produce, locally grown vegetables, Scottish beef, lamb, venison and wild boar. A range of speciality producers have chutneys, jams, locally produced honeys and breads on offer as well as a good selection of Scottish cheeses. Fresh salmon and trout are usually available. Local food markets may seem like quirky little ventures that are never going to make a difference. Surely they went out of fashion because supermarkets are more convenient – we’ll never turn that tide back so why bother? Well, at present most communities are helplessly dependant on ‘just in time’ deliveries of intensively farmed, overpackaged food flown half way round the globe before it gets to your plate. Once fuel scarcity and climate change start to impact on global productivity and prices, then energy-intensive food production and distribution will be less feasible, and it isn’t desirable now.

Moseley Farmers Market
Moseley Farmers’ Market happens on the last Saturday of the month in the centre of Moseley Village. We have over 60 stalls selling a huge range of produce to cater for everyone’s needs; whether it be fruit and vegetables, cheeses and wine, pies and beer, or come for lunch and try for example succulent pulled pork, pancakes, falafals and samosas. Everything available is guaranteed to be local and the produce is reared, grown or processed by the people selling: it’s a certified real Farmers’ Market.
